Notifications
Hear when a deploy succeeds or fails, by email, in the dashboard and on your phone.
Greyship tells you when:
| Event | Example |
|---|---|
| a deploy succeeds | shop is live: Deployment 5ee10af0 (commit 65569fb) is live after 8s. |
| a deploy fails | shop: deploy failed: Deployment 94a8dccc failed: build failed: go build failed (exit status 1). Nothing changed: the live version keeps serving. |
| a project is created | New project shop: shop was created in acme from github.com/acme/shop. |
You're told about deploys you start (CLI, dashboard, redeploys, rollbacks; for a push to GitHub, whoever connected GitHub for the team) and projects you create.
Where they arrive
- The bell in the dashboard: newest first, with an unread dot. Click one to open the deployment.
- Email, with a link to the dashboard page.
- Browser push: a notification on your computer or phone, even with the dashboard closed.
Messages never contain secrets, env var values or app output, only the one-line reason a deploy failed.
Turn on browser push
Dashboard → Settings > Notifications → Turn on, and allow notifications when the browser asks. Do it once in each browser you want them in.
- Works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop, and on Android.
- On iPhone and iPad, add Greyship to your home screen first (Share → Add to Home Screen), open it from there, then turn notifications on.
- Blocked by mistake? Allow notifications for
greyship.techin the browser's site settings, then click Turn on again.
Choose what you get
Settings > Notifications has an email and a push switch for each event. Everything is on by default; the bell always keeps the entry. From the CLI:
grey notifications # show the settings
grey notifications email off deploy.succeeded # no email for successful deploys
grey notifications push off # no push at all
grey notifications email on # every email back on
