Use the dashboard

Everything you can do in the web dashboard, and the CLI command for each. Use either one, or both.

The dashboard and the grey CLI are two doors to the same Greyship. Anything you do in one shows up in the other, and neither is required: you can run everything from the web, from the terminal, or switch between them. This page is the web side; the CLI reference is the terminal side.

Your Greyship's dashboard is at its address: app.greyship.tech for the beta, or the address of the Greyship you installed.

Enter your email and password. There is no signup and no email code: the person who runs the Greyship made your account. Change your password under Settings → Password. If you forget it, ask them (or, if you run it, see Self-hosting).

On a brand-new Greyship nobody has an account yet: the first visit shows Create the owner account.

Deploy your first project

Open New project. You have three ways to start:

  1. Import from GitHub. Press Create GitHub App once (it takes one click and a confirmation on GitHub), install the app on the repositories you want, then pick one. Every push to its branch deploys. See Deploy from GitHub.
  2. Paste a public repository's link (https://github.com/owner/repo). No GitHub App needed; update it with Deploy latest.
  3. Use your terminal. grey deploy in a Go project creates the project and deploys it (Quickstart).

Before anything deploys, the dashboard shows what it found: every service, its type and why, and the release command. Set the environment variables there, then press Deploy and watch the live build log.

Your projects

The Projects page lists everything in your team. Open a project to see:

PageWhat it does
OverviewIts services, their state (running, sleeping, starting) and URLs, and the latest deployment.
DeploymentsEvery deploy with its status and build log. Redeploy the live one, or Roll back to an earlier one, with no rebuild (Rollbacks).
LogsWhat your app prints, live, per service (Logs).
EnvAdd, change or remove variables, or paste a whole .env file. Values are never shown again (Environment variables).
DomainsEach web service's address, and your own domains with a DNS check (Domains).
SettingsRename the project, or delete it (you type its name to confirm).

Metrics and the Go runtime pages are planned and say so; they show no made-up numbers.

Usage and limits

Usage shows what your running apps use now next to the limits your admin set for you (memory, CPU, builds at once). A deploy that would pass a limit fails with a message saying which, and the live version keeps running. See Limits. Server builds run one at a time, so a deploy may wait for someone else's build; the log says how many are ahead.

Your account

Under Settings:

  • Notifications: the bell, email and browser push for deploys you start (Notifications).
  • Password.
  • GitHub: your own GitHub App, and removing it.
  • API tokens: the tokens grey login and CI use; revoke any you don't recognise.

If you run the Greyship: Admin

The owner and any admin also see Admin:

  • Users: add people with an email and a password (or many at once), give each limits, reset a password, make someone an admin.
  • Overview and deployments: find any deployment by id or project and read its full log.
  • Email: turn on deploy emails with a Resend key and a verified domain.
